A coffee table makes a good foot rest - more often than not, working people want to put their feet up after a tiring day of sitting down or running around for their job related tasks. An end table is usually the same level as the sofa or seat, and thus becomes an instant ottoman. Raising the feet or legs in this manner is a great way to allow blood to circulate normally back through the feet and legs. And if this is done while watching TV or sipping a refreshing drink, it makes for a total relaxing moment at the end of a long day. Working people can also do this while reading, doing some sewing, or talking on the phone, in order to prevent cramps.
Glass coffee tables are terrific pieces of furniture. They have a more refined and clean look and since you can use a glass cleaner, you don't have to think about ruining the table by failing to use a coaster with your beverage. But even though they look good, they aren't necessarily the sturdiest. A glass coffee table could break if you hit it too hard, or put your drink down too hard, or put down a plate that is very hot. This is definitely the risk you take to get the streamlined and clean look a glass coffee table provides.
Not all glass tables are clear either. Thanks to new designs, you can get glass coffee tables that have etched and textured surfaces, making them virtually maintenance free while adding new beauty to a room. It is a fresh new take on a classic piece of living room or great room furniture. In addition to being transparent, round top glass tables tend to create a more informal look to the room. This can provide a nice contrast to the more angular furniture in the room, creating contrasts in style and tone, softening the room just a bit.
