Genevieve Palomer. Coffee Table. January 22nd , 2018.
In the end both are great and have their place in the home. I rarely meet a coffee table I don't like for some reason. The most important thing is to select the one that best complements the look and feel of the room you plan to place it in and your house as a whole.
Everyone had end tables and a center table for coffee a decade ago. Where did they go? And more importantly do we need them? Are they just something to put your feet on? Stack books on? Throw the car keys on? Change the baby on? Play a hot game of Chess on? Come On! It's time to think a little more refined OK? These classy tables are designed to put your coffee table book on and set up some coasters for conversational coffee when guests come over or you just want to share a quiet cup of coffee with your loved one.
Glass Coffee Tables. Glass coffee tables look elegant and modern and can make a room look lighter and more airy. However they can also represent a hazard to small children and adults alike. This is because in the US there is no requirement for glass tables to be made from tempered glass.
Similarly there are now "bumpers" available that can be run along the edges of any wooden coffee table. These are heavily padded lengths of material that fix to the surface to prevent injury. They can later be removed when no longer needed. Drawers And Lift Top Lids. Lift Top Lids can also present a hazard for small children. Very often particularly in the case of wooden coffee tables the lid can be very heavy. Because of this there is always the possibility of small children trapping their fingers. If you select a table of this kind it may be necessary to secure the top until your children are older to prevent injury.
